:( sade day indeed. feeding time today and decided to do a second film of my tank after i introduced 2 pleco's, 2 frontosa and a breeding pair of mid to large jewel cichlids a week after introducing them and it seems one of my frontosa have disapeared.

i'm guesing that my jewel's ate him but it strikes wierd as they've gotten along well for a week now and there were 2 fronnys last night but yeah. im quit overwhelmed with sadness, theyr only small but big enough i would have though, ill link the video i took this morning.

no signs of the second fronny anywhere /cry, oh well. bloody expensive feed though if thats what happened GRRRR.

hope my local fish store hasn't steered me wrong, they assured me the fronnys would be fine with the 3 small peacocks and 2 jewels but mm... :WHOA:

well long story short after anouther search for any remains and subsequent cleaning of the gravel in the process he turned up a foot away behind the tanks lid which was sitting to the side of the tank. There seems to be no way he could have jumped out so im baffled how this happened, the water level was a fair way from the top as it was, freak accident i guess. :( oh well best make sure theres no other chance of the fish getting out... quit an expensive loss but ill be keeping the glass lids on from now on i think. will post video link soon

in away im relieved that it wasnt the jewels and that he wasn't eaten by an of the fish, would've been a fare worse problem but yeah still a terrible loss for me... guess ill get anouther fronny to go with the still live one when i go to get some more decor.

I've had the same thing happen with a Front. He got spooked and jumped out of the water at night? Sux, but that is why they make lids and now we both know from experience. GL

that blows mate

I love jewels too but they can be quite aggressive where as the frontosa are quite submissive and fragile... easily stressed to death with out even the jewels doing much to them... i am not saying this happened but it is a possibility ..when fronts are stressed they don't eat, sleep and get sick just like we would if we thought someone was out to get us..

Just noticed this post is a year old and the poster has not been online in 6 months? .:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: Sorry, just found it amusing that some one brings an old post back from the dead.
