I'm still a yr or so away from getting started on my monster tank but i've been toying with google and here's what i've come up with so far...

Dimensions are 8' x 3' x 3'

I'll be adding more as i get them done..
any comments will be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Dre

Nice sketchup, looks very strong. Good to see you are taking the planning stage of this project serious. Best of luck to you when you reach the build phase. Be sure to post lots of pics then too!

What are your 2x4 spacings... i would tighten them closer to each other. 540 Gal = 4,900Lbs ... i would want probably 1' spacing or 8" for piece of mind... or if u can find a pressure rating on 1" plywood you could figure it out.

Thanks forgot about adding a few more 2 x 4's, got caught up into working on the bench.... They'll be 12" spacing between but i might tighten it up like you said... but i'll keep it at that for right now...

Here's a picture of the sump tank
not fully finished.. started with a pre made model.. just added a drip plate, sock filters, bio balls (simulated) and egg crate.. the water pump is just a generic pump i found to give an idea..
still gonna add more to it..

let me know what you think

How is your drip going to work like a drip if its submerged? The dividers show what the water level will be? or am i mistaken?

i see what you mean.. the plan is for it to work like a drip plate.. i'll fix the drawing to reflect that... thanks for the heads up..

I would put uprights on the front of your stand also.
