nice lil', G! is he alone and what size aquarium? looks like a sandstorm in there!

Nice Cute little Baby, one of my favourite SH that i haven had a chance to get my hand on yet but soon...hehe:D and yeah look like he is building up some sand castle:grinno:

Thanks guys!

He's on his own in a 30gal...i know that its a small tank but he will be moving into a 55gal next month

Yeh he's constantly thrashing about kicking up the sand...He even used to burrow himself in it...Once i came home from work and i thought he had escaped...Untill i noticed a quarter of his head and one of his eyes were poking up out of the sand...i was amazed!

For some reason though he wont eat live fish! I know it sounds crazy...Thats what snakeheads do but for whatever reason he doesnt...Whenever i put live fish in with him...He kills them but wont eat them...But when i feed him dead food...Like mussles or whatever...They dont even touch the sand...He demolishes it...Anyone else ever heard of this kind of behaviour?

I dont complain though...Hes got great character :)

i never heard that sh bury them self in sand, that was amzing and unique. :headbang2its good if ur channa only accept on frozen food, lower risk of disease and cheaper.

Hi Tyrone,

some channa like to bury themselves in sand. I've heard from some gachua variants and from punctata and panaw.

gachua are not the big fisheaters, I thinkl he just wants too keep his area without others.

Cheers Brucki

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Sup Brucki! I kinda assumed all SH's preferred live food but obviously i was wrong...Cheers for the knowledge mate

hi tyrone , obviously in the wild they would eat live food , but as brucki said gachua are not big fish eaters ,instead they prefer things like mouse ,frog , insects and crustaceans . in home aquaria this diet would prove dificult and expensive , luckly they useally accept preperd food , frozen blocks ect ,without much trouble
