Rarely see him out, he eats well but only when it's PITCH black. if there's even a teeny tiny spec of light in the room, he won't come out. I seriously have to use my old night vision goggles just to watch the guy. He gets fin nipped by my chocolate cichlid often and has a torn tail....he hides in his little driftwood cave I made for him.

Plecos are nocturnal by nature. If they are getting nipped at by tankmates they will most likely be even less comfortable with coming out with the lights on. Just be sure to throw some food in right before lights out so he doesn't starve.

I feed him 3 times a week with hikari algae wafers. He also joins with my pictus cats to clean up the leftover cichlid pellets and new life spectrum. The pleco's in my hospital tank until his fins recover.

I would separate that chocolate cichlid (if possible)
If you move the chocolate and give your pleco some time to heal up, im sure he'll come out more
But, like slippery slimecoat said, plecos are nocturnal by nature so even if you remove the chocolate cichlid you still wont see him that much

Right now the galaxy's in a 15 gallon tank with some corys and some dwarf cichlids (a keyhole and a blue ram). I had to shutdown my regular old hospital tank because it just cracked today...no idea what the hell happened. Oh well, it was only a 10 gallon. I don't know why the chocolate is the one nipping, my more aggressive cichlids just poke at him but leave him alone 99% of the time.
