It’s slumped and the lower part of its body curves when it tries to swim. Now it’s just laying on the tanks bottom. It still eats from my tongs though. What should I do, and would it recover?

I’d leave it alone. Don’t stress it out. Let it try and swim on its own. Not much to be done but wait. How big is the gar? How big is the tank?

The gar is 12 inches and the tank is 6 x 2.5 x 2 feet. I’m kinda bummed about this. Would it heal up?

Ya it should heal up in a few months. Doesn't look too badly damaged
That’s a relief. When you say it would heal up, that means it would straighten up again right? Cause there is a small bump/ curve on its back and I hate to see it like that.

Yea mines smaller so he had a lot of room to build up speed before hitting the wall. But he is still here and getting around just fine. 20201218_184643.jpg20201215_190031.jpgnote the kink in his back

As long as its still eating there's hope. They normally heal and backs straighten. They also will swim weird for quite awhile too, but eventually recover and regain the use of all their fins and balance. Just give them time.

my RTG arowana isn’t making it easy for the gar to heal up. It keeps attacking it, what do I do? I only realised that it started attacking my gar this week and that’s how my gar probably broke it’s back escaping it. My arowana is only around 9-10 inches in the 6 foot tank, so it has more than enough space. How can I ease its aggression?
