well today when i was watching tv i heard a splash and i saw my small 10inch gar upside down, at first i thought it died of a sudden impact or something so i hurry get the net and flip him over and he starts breathing. I hold him up with my hand and i see that he is slowly moving and swims away. 3 hours pass and i see him swiming around the tank just fine and hes taking down the pellets i drop in there. can it be that he K.O. himself or something? has this ever happend to anybody else with a gar?

yup, probably just knocked itself out. was the gar in view of the tv? or in the same room? often times if they are spooked they can do a fast start, hit the glass, and get knocked out. flashes of tv will do this (i have experienced this on multiple occasions, but eventually controlled for it). be glad it just knocked itself out and didn't break its back. just another one of those unique and tricky things about keeping these fishes in glass (or plastic) boxes--

were you watching monster fish on national geographic and he saw a lady gar and got all excited?
