I am so happy with my new geophagus brasiliensis I picked him up last Tuesday. I got one last year and it was ultra aggressive so it had to go back to the store. I was disappointing because I think they are one of the nicest looking fish. I saw this beauty at the LFS three weeks ago and every time I went in there I spent about 15 minutes watching him he was always at the front of the glass wiggling around like a puppy wanting to play. I was skittish to buy because of my last experience but this one seems different I figure after 3 weeks and nobody else took him I had to. He or she (not sure yet) is very very friendly. In his new home he is always at the front of the tank watching me except when the lights are out and he can't see me then he goes about his business. From the first night he followed me as I walked by the tank. I don't think I have ever seen a fish this personable

I don't normally name my fish but this one deserves a name. I call him Hank. Named after Hank Hill on the show king of the hill. Unless I find out he is in fact a she then I will have to think of a new name lol.

He is currently about 4"

I feel like a hypocrite because I usually give advice to not keep these with severum due to my fist experience. However this guy is in with two severum. I am finding their personality can run the full range of very aggressive to passive. I watched this guy for a long time before deciding to purchase and he seems not very aggressive but certainly territorial he is fine with my severum . My first one tore apart a green terror that was bigger than him.

So this guy is going back to the store. It saddens my cause he really is a personable fish but he is keeping all my other fish hiding. He isn't causing injury but everyone else is afraid of him.
