My GF wants an Oscar!

LOL I know right… ok my gf fell in love with Oscars… she has never kept fish before. The question is, she is moving to her new place about 1-2 months or so…she is already looking for a place.

The problem with Australia is GOOD QUALITY fish is hard to find, due to the limited amount of suppliers we have.

The LFS has recently acquired some MAGNIFICANT albino red Oscars around 3-4 inches, and there is about 3 left.

Question: I suggested for her to get a small tank like a 10-15 gallon, and upgrade in 2 months when she moves to her new place.

Upgrading is NOT the problem, she will definitely upgrade during that time. Any criticism on my suggestion? I thought 2 months should be fine for 3-4 inch Oscar in a 15 gallon.

Can't picture a 4" oscar in a 10gallon tank for your girlfriend who has never kept an oscar. Not a good idea. so in two months it will be 6 inches in a 10/15 gallon tank? not a good idea. Have her move, get a good sized tank, then consider purchasing an O. Given time, you will come across an O you/your girlfriend will like. Have her enjoy your fish in the meantime. Have her do weekly water changes & maintenance to see if it's something she really wants.
 
Ha...try being with a girl that wants black rays.

Hold the Oscar for her. Let her buy all the stuff for the Oscar. then see how long it will last. Might as well buy her a 90gal tank already. Easy fix. Is she worth it or not?
