nice peacock, and a peacock is a type of spiney... it is just over-used in describeing most spiney's. Cutie. also agree, go barebottom or sand. otherwise there is a good chance the gravel will do damage or kill it over time. looking at the stock list I'de lean towards the bare bottom so the bichir's don't get sand in their tummies. 12"+ is also what your looking at full grown. I've seen a few close tot he 24" mark but most seem to stay in the 14" range. try flakes, small sinking pellets. if those don't work frozen bloodworms are lmost never refused. =) Enjoy! they are fun fish w/ cichlid-like personalities when happy.
