My gouramis spawn journal

Well, my gourami pair surprised me this morning. My male was building a nest this morning in the main tank and now theyve already spawned D:

I expect failure but im preparing for the better. This will be an interesting experience. Wasn't ready haha

This is my pair.



The nest is actually pretty neat. My male has packed it full of bubbles and plants.

Dad isnt letting anyone near the nest. Poor cories dont even know what's going on when they go up for air and get a face full of angry dad.

I do have some cultures of cyclops, green water, and infusoria ready.

Cool, I had a species of fish similar to gouramis(spike tail paradise fish), they bred without me even noticing until I saw a baby one hidden in a plant. You must have been lucky to catch them on camera.

They have been pretty obvious about it. The male is chasing everyone off from the spot he made his nest.

But just unexpected because the tank is heavily filtered (apparently these guys spawn when theres little flow) and i havent fed them much in the way of frozen foods, just once a week. Other days they get flakes, pellets, or wafers. But apparently thats good enough for them lol. No temperature manipulation, nothing.

Hes parked his nest right near a filter and airline. Go figure.

Sorta, was culturing those for my nano fish and my bamboo shrimp!

Plus this week the heater in my fry tank busted and im waiting on one in the mail now, so i dont have a heated grow out until that arrives... but slow mail delay. They will need to be raised in the main tank until the new heater comes in.

Of course NOW is when they decide is good. No heater in the grow out, stuck home because of COVID, yep perfect time hahaha
