I know this is a lackluster topic, but I'm excited. I held out as long as I ever have starving a fish, and even after a week he was reluctant to take pellets. Now he is hitting them, albeit one at a time, but it is progress. He even picks up leftover pellets off the bottom. I decided to feed him Hikari Sinking Carnivore pellets at first because they have a strong odor. Once he was taking them I added NLS cichlid and he is eating it too. I'm gonna just feed those two for a while before I try anything else, but those two are really good enough alone IMO.

I think he eats some at night when the lights go off cuz I can't find any leftover food the next day. Is this normal? It is pitch dark in that room cuz it has no windows and no source of light once the tank lights go out. He must use smell to find it. Okay, enough about my small victory. I had to share it with someone as no one at home or at work really cares about fish but me.

Congrats I know it feels like an accomplishment to get stubborn fish on pellets. My grammys will eat pellets but are slow chewers. That might be why they grow so slowly. The other cichlids get a lot more food because they gulp everything down whole and the grammodes take a long time to swallow while they savor the flavor lol.

:headbang2yeh congratz! i cant wait till i get my:headbang2 grammodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good work man! It's always a relief to get your fish on pellets..... way cheaper! I got my Grammodes on Hikari Sticks. Like you said, in the beginning you don't know if they actually ate it but there was nothing left. Now mine are getting a little more comfortable and actually coming up as I close the lid. Post some pics of your Grammodes... see those bad boys!

:iagree: lets see some pics!

I think you have already seen him as I posted pics a few weeks ago. I can throw them up again but I think you guys have seen them.

good stuff :)
pellets FTW
i know i go around peddling this stuff, but give the paprika and garlic color pellets from angelsplus.com a go
my mota goes nuts over them... but then again he goes nuts over anything remotely like food inside his tank
:)

Awesome! I'm glad he finally started taking them! Amazing feeling when your hard work paid off! Go go Patience! He still skittish? I've found when mine started to eat he became gradually less timid.
