I've had my green sunfish for over 7 months now. He's really grown a lot.
i'll probably be taking him up to my aunt's pond sometime in the summer.
So far in his tank he has a small bridge decoration and some fake plants. I was wondering what I can replace the small bridge decoration with. Maybe a clay flower pot? Does it matter what kind of clay flower pot? Right now he tends to stay in the one corner of the tank when he's not swimming around his tank. Do you think he'd benefit from a cave of some sort to go into? He was only 2 inches long when I got him. I can't believe how much he's grown lol.
Anyway, here are some updated pictures of him (sorry the pictures aren't very good, for algae and water spots as well lol.)

I don't think your sunnie needs either. Looks pretty stress free to me and it looks like you have some driftwood. I think you should try and make his home look natural, so driftwood, fake plants like you have. If the sunnie seems to like the bridge..lol let him keep it. As for flower pot a cheap ceramic brown one from walmart is fine. Nothing special, if you want one. It looks like he has a good home as it is.
Nice update.

He's just enjoying the valisnerria. In nature, they like to hang out around structure, but not necessarily in it. I've got 2 55 gallon tanks, both with caves and other structure, and my bluegills and pumpkinseeds just hang out around the rocks or java ferns. Greens are pretty undemanding, so just leave em alone and enjoy him. Have you tried handfeeding him yet? Mine eat worms right out of my hand.

I think I'll leave his tank the way it is although I may get a larger peice of drift wood for him. I think a larger peice of drift wood would look nicer in the tank. I've never tried hand feeding him yet. I'll have to try giving him worms. What kind of worms do you feed your sunfish? I've given my guy crickets before as a treat and he liked them. Would waxworms or meal worms be ok for him? I don't have easy acces to earthworms. I can get crickets, waxworms and mealworms from the petstore where I work.

Noddy how do you have your driftwood hanging from the top of your tank?
