:naughty:i was on the computer surfing the internet and noticed my female cleaning out the clay pot. The male started helping her as well and doing his shake dance. i grabbed my video camera and have great footage will post the video on youtube soon! they are still laying eggs and the male is still fertilizing them so they have me held hostage in my room haha im so exciting i need advice on what to do after they hatch. and dont worry guys ill have pics up soon! im shocked too because they are not very big, maybe 4 inches for the male 3.6 for the female? id say over 300 eggs maybe more.:nilly::headbang2

My GT's are pretty good parents when the fry are small. Remove them when they are more stable and a couple weeks old. Good Luck!

sounds good, what do i feed them? most websites are saying brine shrimp and crished flake food. oh i got a 10 gallon tank all set up and ready for when i remove them too

BS are bad for the babies. It has almost no nutrition in it. I use hikari fry food, micro worms, and crushed flake.

I would probably use earthworm flakes crushed up into a powder. More protein in that, I find small fish get some nice growth spurts using earthworm flakes. You could also try freeze dried bloodworms (crushed up) that might help as well. I would use a good quality flake (crushed up) as the staple though.

thanks, i came home today and half of the fry were gone but i noticed there was empty egg shells then i noticed her going to a pit she had dug out then i saw some fry in there. is this normal for the mother to move her fry out of the pot once they break out of the egg?!

First time I've ever heard BBS is bad for fry. I don't use it because I'm to lazy to hatch them. I do the Hikari First Bites and micro worms too.

yeah, once they start free swimming she will herd them around. What will really freak you out is when they are free swimming and she swims up and eats them...but then carries them somewhere and spits them out. First time I saw that I thought the mom snapped and was dinning on her kids.

i cant wait haha i just put in a divider diving the mom and her eggs with the dad and another GT. i just dont want any chances of them snaking on the babys. ive been feeding them crushed hikari pellets for the last 3 days
