Hello MFK,

New to the forum and PB.
So the story with this guy is 6 months ago I went to local the FS and saw a little Orino swimming differently, i took a closer look and noticed he/she was born with no tail, swims great just wiggles and eats like a pig. The current tank he is in is 110g cube. Ill try and post a video later of him in swimming and eating.

Thanks for looking,

Brian

Hmm.... healed injury, or congenital, I wonder? It sounds like you think he was born that way? It's really cool to see his progress shots. Was he housed with other peacock bass during the time he was growing up? Very kind of you to house this lil fella.

The guy at the FS said they just got the batch of babies the night before and he didn't look to be injured, just a deform. He was only maybe an 1.25" when I got him (his tank mates were 1.75"). But since the FS days, he is the only PB in the tank now; other tank mates include (large goldfish, avocado pleco and an unknown dwarf catfish).

The store sold him as an Orino and from the pics Ive seen he looks to be; what do you think MFK?

Awesome that you gave this guy a second chance. Looks strong and heathy. How was its growth rate compared to normal cichla?
I'd say he's a mono or mono/occel hybrid, but it only makes it harder to ID not having a tail in all. That's my guess.

Not sure about the growth rate, as he is my first Cichla but Ive had him for 6 months (latest pics were from yesterday) and he looks to be close to 6" now
Thanks lambrakopoulos the more i look the more I'm thinking he may be a hybrid to.

Hello,

Thought i share some updated pics on my handicapped hybrid and his new tank mate (was told its a Kelberi and about 8 months, same age as my handicapped PB)

Thanks for looking!
