Neon Tetras and Angelfish can be tough, maybe re-consider another featured Tetra like Cardinals or Rummynose?

hmmm luckily I have rummynose but I'll go with cardinals cause only difference is the red stripe.

I would just make sure you have the cardinals in a nice size school, well settled in, and give them time to grow-out before you add the Angels.. try to keep the Angels at a smaller proportionate size, and they will likely learn to ignore the XL Cardinals as they grow up. Be careful if they show breeding behavior though, this is when Angels can show their aggressive 'cichlid' side.

My LFS sells baby angels so I'll do that but if the cardinals are too big for the babies would that give them sufficient growout time?

You'd be surprized at what a baby angel will try to swallow! I had to pull a shrimp out of one angel's mouths (back when I was breeding them) that was roughly the same size as the fish!

I would re-think the loaches. I have a hex myself, and the tank is just too high for them (been there), not enought water movement on the bottom to keep it high in O2. You could do a powerhead or water pump down low and that might help, although mine did not.

Also, even though it is a 50 gallon tank, it is NOT the same as a "standard" 50. Hex's need to be stocked lightly, they really do not have the surface area to support the gas exchange like a standard tank. You are going to have run air stones if you keep the stocking list you have now (again, been there.)

IMO, tall narrow tanks like hex's suck. If I could go back in time I would have never bought mine.

i find hex's are unstable, and you really have be dilegent with them, air sstones are a must! and under stock them, they really are better as a planted terrieum(dam can't spell hoping you'll know what i mean) or what i'm planning for mine it to be a fully planted half or 3/4 water and have lrg piece bog wood half out of the water with frog /s

just my two cents

I like that idea, but I would personally go newts, just cause they are a litte easier to keep IMO. I love paddletails newts they are so fun to watch.

I'l go with my stocking list for now, I have a good areation plan anyway so it should be ok :headbang2 :headbang2 thanks for the tips though, I do have it worked out:) And anyway the process of adding fish will be very slow saying I dont have much cash left lol. Still waiting for my MFK decals though I think DiXoN has sent some to me.

and those rainbow fish are:
Threadfin Rainbow fish
Pacific blue eye.
