My hitch hiker mushroom has been shriveled up for a few days. It opens up a little during the day but not like it used to. Do I need to feed it something? Whats wrong?
Thx

id first check your water. any parameters that are off balance like ammonia, nitrite and really high nitrate, usually 40ppm or higher, (in a reef, nitrate should be as low as possible, around .05-.10 rang) will cause stress on coral, and eventually could cause the death of the coral. Other issues could be a change in pH, large increase in the amount of light being received, being picked on by fish, inverts and possible hitch hikers. Just a few places to start and hopefully this will help narrow it down for you.

hmmm ammonia is reallly close to 0, nitrite is .1 ,nitrate is 5, temp is 81-82 ph-8.3,8.4. tank is still cycling. Do mushrooms like light? I have 2 peppermint shrimp, a brittle star, snails, hermits, bristleworms, spagetti worms, a hitchiked sea slug i think(see it every once and I while, this white looking gorgania thing on rock(small). Could it be any of these?

theya re photosynthetic and as such need light (especially if they aren't 'hairy') but don't need a butt load.. HO lighting or PCs would be fine

try a water change.. they are pretty hardy and it should be a rather large problem to cause any noticeable effect

k, I mixed water yesterday for the planned one today.

Did a 30% water change. Its still like that, but not as much. I did change the waterflow to a slightly diff direction, could this be the problem

Probably your problem right there.
