On Saturday, I went to visit in Hong Kong. And I had a chance to stroll in the market of the fish, but I was very excited when I need to meet ....:nilly:

Hahahaha, i know exactly which shop you took that pic at... but to answer gigas question, that fish if i remember correctly was either HKD $13,000 or $18,000 which is basically USD $1669 - $2310

They also have a larger shop as well, which they normally put these fish in when they first come in, then if after a while it doesn't sell, they move it to the smaller shop which is the one where that pic was taken...

Yes, Channa Barca.
Still very rare, but pretty sure a source has been found now, and the exportes/dealers are milking the market as much as they can.

They seem to be popping up a lot now.

Only a matter of time before someone who can afford it gets a pair and a succesful spawn and then we'll be paying £10 a pop for them. Hopefully.

The one in the pic is supposedly a wild caught specimen and out of all the trips i've been out to fish street, that was the first time i ever saw one of those for sale...

Actually that same shop also has a small (under 12") platinum aro for sale, and a few other rare fish...

All really depends on when you go what you might see, but from time to time you find some real gems... although most of those gems also come with a hefty price tag...

It will be wild caught Homer, to my knowledge this fish has never been bred in captivity.
