OK, so I've been living in a hotel as part of a relocation program for a couple of months now. I need to move out into a rental place next month. My fish are still at my old house, about 800 miles away. I can't move fish and tanks in one go - just too much to ask, so I'm setting up some temp living quarters here to move them into, and as far as the wife knows, I'll be repurposing or getting rid of the temporary stuff once the move is complete :naughty:. Anyways, Today I had the ordeal of obtaining my new aboveground pond and transporting it with no truck then sneaking it into the hotel, so I can get started organizing the setup.

Now the funny part - I wonder what housekeeping is going to say when they walk in, to find this:

I'm going to tell them it's my laundry bin.

Nice ! That is the real deal fish keeper.

Once when I was 19 my apartment was getting fumigated and me and my roommate had to relocate our indoor agriculture product in to a hotel for 4 four days. Trust me that "Do not disturb" sign was very prominent lol I can't imagine what they would have thought about that.

Now to figure out how to build a filter and get 'er cycling with what little I have here...

Interesting point to ponder on this is going to be the cycling issue though. I need to move this tank in 4 weeks, and I need to rescue a 24" TSN from an 80gl tank in the next 2-3 weeks, so no time to complete a fishless cycle, and all my mature media is back home with my other fish. It's been a while since I really pondered the fishy vs fishless debate, but my initial impression is the arm waving "it's inhumane!" BS is just that - BS. If I'm available to do waterchanges regularly and so on, it should not be a problem, I'm THINKING. Second opinions? Remember we're talking about single occupancy of a 24" fish in about 150gallons of water.

Get some bio spira :D

OR do loooottttsss of water changes!!!

It annoys the hell outta me when I'm on a forum and am like "yeah, you can get some cheap damsels to cycle the tank" and then everyone is like "Noooo!!! That's mean to the poor fishies!"

When you get the TSN out of the 80 gal locally can't you grabe the old filter media that the tank has on it?

Knock the big clumps of waste/debris off add it to your temperary filtration in the 150 gal... which could be as simple as a big powerhead...

Then monitor & water change as needed...

I'm assuming since you are staying in a hotel you'll have a little more time than usual to do water changes... and the water is already paid for...
