What do you think it's crossed with?

Hello,

first ... it's not unusual that senegalus do have those little green spots all over the dorsal area. My senegalus also have these fine green spots ...
second ... you do not have sent a full body shot to see more of the eventuality of unusual markings that do not belong to "real" senegalus.
third ... the pic has a strong greenish color fault due to a incorrect white balance during the photo shot.

Greetings

oohh... Was told that mine is a hybrid. And the green moudly look is the true effect on the fish and not the camera effect. Infact it's more obviously when viewed in person.:)

Hello,

are there any markings/patterns on the sides or back of yout bichir?

There're no marking. As clean as a senegal.

I saw some bichirs at an LFS labeled as Senegals that looked very similar to yours. I posted a question on here about them because they just looked different than Senegals to me, so I thought they may be some other species. Mabye it is just a different color variant.

How likely is it for bichirs to hybridize?

my senegal has green hue and dots too. imo its a senegal based on this photo. a full body shot may help.

We often get highly green speckled sens in our regular sen shipments. Don't mean to be a hater but I think that's just a regular senegal :)

Thanks guy for the explaination. Actually we dun get to own these kinda senegal here as often as you. But well, I'm just happy to have one and keeping them with my silvers.:)
