I've had a few requests about my FSI canister sock filter. I am using a 100 micron felt and polypropylene sock filter in this canister by FSI. The loop is pumped by a blue-line 70hd pump and I have a 25watt UV by Aqua Ultraviolet on the return. There are two other closed loops - 1 has a fluidized bed filter with purigen and the other is a 3 or 4g Eheim canister with K1 media. There is also a constant drip. The picture of the dirty sock filter shows the first time that I changed it (after about 4 weeks). The bio load on this 300 is pretty heavy but this set up seems to be working well - the water is very clear. Lighting is 3 in-line programmable LED units by AI. The lightening storms might be a bit much but I love it - and the fish don't seem to mind!image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Nice! Closed loop is my weapon of choice.

That's a pretty sweet set up

Btw - changing the filter is a breeze. Five minutes max. I close the loop, open a drain hose on the bottom of the filter, twist off the top, lift the filter out by the handles and replace it. The gauge on the type helps me determine when.
