That looks like way to much work and expense for what your getting.I wouldn't build a vat for a liner unless it was at least 8'X4'X2'.For the size you are after I would buy a 150gal rubbermade water trough. It would be easier to work with ,Have no liner folds,Hold up better aganst turtle claws, and maybe cheaper.

I’m usually a fan of overkill… but that thing is much more stout than I would design…

I also have a 300 gal Rubbermaid… they work very nice and would cost about the same as this design… but a lot less work…

You got it .
That's going to make a very handsome pond :headbang2.

I think your daughter will love it, and the critters too.

i looked into a 150 gal poly stock tank in my area 179.99, i may just go this way, its a little pricier i think but it would hold up better like you said.
i also wouldn't have to bother my stepdad for the use of his wood shop.
well until i built a box to put it in, i can't just drop a stock tank on the floor and say done to obsessive for that

thanks dr joe!:D
though i'm seriously thinking about a stock tank now

I don't think that thing will bow since it's only 48" wide.... however, I do think it's a lot of work for a pond that size. I'd go 8' wide by 2'. Or like previously mentioned, purchase a preformed bin. Just my input. Nice design though.

today i found a Behlen 175 gallon tank in my area for $165 6x2x2 i'm going to buy one in a day or two, turtles gonna live like a king lol

i'm going to set up a pond soon and while shopping around i noticed Behlen brand stock tanks are "FDA approved food quality polyethylene" while all i could find on Rubbermaid brand stock tanks was "tough one piece foam rubber construction" i don't know if this matters or not but thought it was worth mentioning. this is just what "I" found while researching/shopping
