my iridescent shark died

ok i have a little problem my iridescent shark just died and i have no clue why do cat fish need soft water because i have sand that makes my water hard i need help please

Water hardness usually doesnt kill fish, soft water is better but not likely the cause of death unless it was a very rapid change. What was tank size and other water parameters. Is it a newly established tank?

you have sand did not kill your fish, more then likely it was your water being bad.

Agree with above, the hardness of the water wasn't the culprit. Any injury or disease? New fish addition?

I also agree with the other there is a background to this that needs to be filled in

i bought this fish like 3 hours before it died so it could have been sick and it has been setup for a long time

So if the fish was new it probably died from shipping/acclimating related issues most likely
