My Jack Dempsey...Male or Female?

Hello all, new to the site. Just wanted to post a couple pictures of my JD and hope you all can help me sex it. I have gone back and forth a few times and I'm leaning toward male...what do you think?

You can tell by looking at the gill plate, where a lack of colored spangles indicates male, and a sort of beard of color indicates females. Usually the best way to sex a JD.

As the others have said, the gill plate is a dead giveaway most of the time.
