My 5 inch jack Dempsey is not eating. He doesn't come to the surface to eat pellets, I don't think he even sees them. When I try sinking pellets he occasionally eats one and spits it out and once in a blue moon swallows it. When he was smaller and in a smaller tank he came to the surface just fine. He liked worms for a bit but now it's all snow outside and there are none. I was thinking of getting him some mealworms or superworms. Is this a good idea? He is in a 75 gal tank by himself and water parameters are all fine. He is very healthy and colorful and has plenty of hiding spots. What should I do?

just give him meal worms and keep on trying pellets when his belly gets full just keep trying pellets he will eventually come around my jd got really picky when he hit 6 in good luck

Has the water temp fluctuated at all? If you are worried try some small earthworms. Maybe try a variety of different pellets or pieces of shrimp or tilapia fillet.
