Here's my jag juvie/sub-adult. He's about 5" right now. I got him in mid-January as a mystery fish in a mixed mbuna tank. He was about 1" and a pale little thing. The mbuna babies were well on their way to killing him so he ended up coming home with me.

I caught him swimming in the cave just to tail smack the BN plec in the face. The BN gives it right back to him. I still don't know what sex he/she is, so any ideas on that would be great.

couldn't really say as far as the sex goes, but he/she is coming along very nicely. :)
 
Nice Jag. I'm not going to guess to the sex, anyone that gives an opinion on that with out venting is only going to be guessing at this point. He/She is showing common color and pastern characteristic of a female, but with Managuense, they can sometimes show color of their opposite sex. Its kinda tough.
 
Glad to see you over here Lab! I'm leaning towards female, just because of the rounded anal fin in the 2nd picture. Though, as you probably already know, that's not always an accurate way to find out.
 
Thanks guys, I keep going back and forth. I guess I could try to vent, but that's likely to piss (s)him off. Maybe I'll do it anyway.

And hi GSM! The cichlid section here is much more active than AC. :thumbsup:

I went and royally pissed him off by poking at his genitals. Looks like a boy to me! (though I could be wrong)
