i doubt hes wantin to mate...hes only lyk 8 inches and hes in a grow out 55 with a rtc a GT a myan and a blue channel
its normal it could be hes trying to build a nest but females useually do that it could also just be making a pit to lay in at night does it have a place to hide if not thats proubly what its doing
but it could wan't to mate they will start to mate at 4-5''

the thing is its not digin a pit its pushing all the rocks in the whole tank up against the front glass so i have barleyn rocks in the back but in the front its stackd up lyk 7 inches with rocks lol..... hes relly nice n healthy and so are my other fish so it dnt bother my tht much i jus think its weird n was wonderin y he did it
Ok I am not going to flame you yet but do you have a pond or atleast a 12x6x5 tank? If you don't SHAME ON YOU! What are you doing with the fish afterwards? Anyways JAgs do this all the time it's just a behavior that most cichlids have. It is to make there home more suitable for them selfs such as easier entrances into caves and stuff like that. I am sure your jag does not want to mate with catfish, pbass or a GT and the mayan I am going to say no but possible. This not really a characteristic of many guapote to do when mating as they already have the habit anyway.
