My jags have spawned. The eggs hatched and everything is just dandy. Only problem is there is a 4 inch jag and a 3 inch festea are in there with my BIG jags. The male is 14 inches and the female is 12inches. They protected the eggs from the 2 fish and a pleco.... I fear that when the babies are free swimming they will pick them off and the big jags wont be able to get them. I would just take out the two smaller fish and the pleco but i CANT catch them. Its rediculous.:cry:

I had easily a 95% hatch rate and there are SOOO many wigglers that are starting to wiggle off the ground. I wish the jags would just eat the fish....

Congrats on the successful spawn. Any chance of moving around some of the decor without disturbing mom & dad to corner the smaller jag & festae?

I cant move that big driftwood, but even if i did they are so F ing fast. Well the tank is like 32 or 36 inches tall too so that makes it harder x2. Do you think they will defend the free swimmers as well as the eggs and wigglers?

I hope the little jag and festae eat like 2 babies each then get swallowed. But if i can't catch them i am scared my jag wont be able to either.

i had the same problem with my spawn i had a 3 inch mota in the tank while my other motas spawned but they ended up beatin it up and then it was easy to catch while it was at the surface of the water

Congrats on the successful spawn. I've had the same problem, what I do is cut a piece of egg crate and wait for the fish that I want to get out to swim to one side and block them in or you can cut a hole in the egg crate that is large enough for the fish that you want to get out.place it in the tank maybe 8-10inches from one side hold it with suction cups put some food on the small side of the divider when the fish that you want to get comes though the hole block it and catch it with the net.
I hope that this was helpful

Moving wrigglers can be a PITA. The easiest way is if they are in a clay pot and you can just move the whole thing.Water, wrigglers, and the pot,IME.

A brine shrimp net will work too,but if your tank is over 30", a PITA too.
