Some time ago, I had a Female Dovii and Male Jag pair up in my tank. They did the deed and I saved a few of the fry. This is the biggest so far.. assuming it’s a male. So far he looks pretty good and has good personality. He carried a lot of the blue from his mom over and also has the male Dovii speckling.

Thank you! I’ll update with a few more pictures as he grows. I have three others from the batch. I believe two are female and the other is just a smaller male. This guy has always been the first to eat and always colored up.

there's a lot of people who kill crossbreeds to keep the lines pure and I think in general its frowned upon to distribute them. some of the most beautiful fish I've owned were cross breeds but I kept them to myself.
Why would that be frowned upon? They look amazing often times and I'm sure others would like them, just make sure they know it's a hybrid

I agree with Specter on that others would possibly like the hybrids and that they should just tell everyone it’s a hybrid but I think the problem comes from people not realizing what they have and then passing it on to others without relaying the info. I was waiting for an “oh my god it’s a hybrid killing machine!” but felt fairly safe at MFK. On another note, I think it’s all up to the keeper and their tastes. A lot of people are all about flowerhorns (a hybrid) and nobody says anything there but the minute something different comes up, we better put our flame suits on.
