the cuts
my jar has three or four scales missing on the top of his head a few hours ago he did not he is swimming around like usual should i be alarmed please help this fish is my pride and joy
 
it problilbly hit something...my jars have had that happen from time to time...few days/week it will be fine...

Probly jumped hope you got wieght on your lids.Heck even then you just dont know.
 
alright i did a water change 20 percent gonna keep the water super clean and i got a heavy a@s canopy so he cant jump out

he'll get out if he wants to...you just have to make him want to stay...i had a gar jump out of a tank with a dapped top...:screwy:
 
two things may have caused it - (1) like above he tried to jump out and lost a few scales in the process, this is not really cause for concern. just check your cover and make sure it is going to keep him in there. he will eventually learn to quit doing it cause it hurts, unless something is frightining him into doing it. (2) he is getting into fights with tankmates (if any). if he doesn't have any tanksmates, then it must be #1

best specualtion i can provided based on information available.

his scales will grow back - takes 1-3 months depending on size
 
he doesnt really get into fights with tankmate a peacock bass the pbass wont fight back
