My Jardini Experience

I purchased a nice jardini from a LFS for 90bucks, brought it home to my 125. I thought he would be safe and sound with some smaller oscars and 2 RTC. I bought the RTC's a month ago at 2-3inch or so but i truly forgot how big they had grown. I got him acclimated and everything turned the lights offf and went upstairs to watch river monsters. As I saw Ron Jeremy(spelling) reel in a Large RTC it occured to me that my Jardini may be in harms way. Needless to say I went downstairs to find the jardini doing his thing at the top of the tank, but the RTC's doing similar patterns 6 inches bellow while looking up :nilly:. I got the aro in a different tank soon after.

I would agree with highback RTC are aggressive feeders and would eat anything. There was a fish store in my area that were feeding unwanted 12" oscar to their RTC which they left in an indoor pond in the shop. I dont know if they intentionally meant to feed it but the RTC handle the fish with one gulp.

Ron Jeremy? That fat porn guy? He was fishing for RTC? I think its Jeremy Wade or something like that. I cant really understand him when he says it. That is some funny s***. On anther note though i was a bit worried for your jardini. Im glad we set up the other tank.

but its a good think you caught it before it got worse.

I dont particularly love the show, but i think seeing those fish was the only thing that was able to pry me away from my reptiles. I love fish now and never though i would. Just as important was Mike (the OP) helping me ALOT when i started getting fish. I got a 75 with 4 oscars as my first serious fish and when i got ich (Thanks a lot Petsmart) he was a HUGE help in helping me get rid of it (Kordon ich attack - hate the smell, love the results) and keep me from getting discouraged with with whole fish thing. Im now in the process of cleaning out my basement to make an indoor pond for red tail cats and tiger shovelnose cats. :nilly:
