at around 9" he is grabbing my gars tails several times a day. Not attacking them, but just biting thier tails. Now I am certain this behavior wont stop at this point and he is now going into his own 125 in the garage. Tank is setup just waiting on the substrate to settle to toss him in it.

Sucks bro, but you can't get results without an experiment. At least you were prepared to handle the situation if/when it occurred as opposed to just getting rid of some fish to remedy the problem.

I'm dealing with a similar issue with my FRT and my gars, but I am hoping the move to the 500 will solve things.

The 125 in the garage is one that I assembled entirely myself :nilly: im sweating a bit but it passed a 4 day test fill without exploding or leaking. I was hoping to get one of the stray 'friendly' jardinis out there. I dont want to get rid of it because it is so attractive. much better than a silver in my opinion.

I hope the FRT stops picking on those gar. 500 gallons should solve a lot of problems and those are some nice gar. Over the next few weeks, I think I am going to go try to hook up with some bowfin and gar around here.

Nice! Let me know if you can find any extra bowfin around 10" or larger. I can't keep smaller ones for the life of me. I lost that one I posted a month or so back in the natives section. Random bowfin death syndrome...

There is a spot down by our lake cabin that there is reported catches of bowfin. I may just make a weekend out of it and take my pole and a cast net and see what i cant catch. I have heard that smaller bowfins are quite difficult to keep. I just dont want to keep the 3 footers like I was catching down in florida. Not sure what the 'captive' size will max at. The canals in South Florida were loaded with them (even smaller ones) but I was not really set up to catch any unfortunately. I am a good shipper so if I get a hold of decent sized ones I can ship some out that way. They are not considered game fish, so collecting should not be difficult.

Sorry it did not work out

I dont even know what that word means :( I even tried to google it with no results.

It wasnt really a shock to me, but it was worth a try.

My jar did that to my Florida... But now he doesn't. Thank god lol
