my JD, color question..

Hey everyone,

Well, lately he's been going back and forth from being rather black to his normal color state. But just tonight I noticed something new. He has some reddish coloration near both his gill area and his rear fins as well, pretty bright too. Makes me wonder maybe it could be mixed with something and my LFS didn't mention or know of it? Or is this normal?

Jeff Rapps has wild JDs for sale. He describes them as "red-throated." This must be normal for JDs even though you don't often see it in domestic ones.
