My 2 young oscars finally outgrew my jewel cichlid and im guessing they beat him up bad, i came home that night to see my jewel a bloody mess :(
Ive gotten attached to this guy, i rescued him from petco when he was all messed up and i made him healthy, i dont know if i can help him this time
Ive already separated him into a ten gallon at 85 degrees but any other suggestions on stuff i could do to keep him alive or make him better?
or if hes a goner and suggestions on a way to put him down, without using clove oil because i dont have any

dont have any aquarium salt at the time, is there any household salt i can use? ive got additive free sea salt, would that work until i get my ass to my LFS?

Well, it doesn't look good from the pics, I'm afraid.

You can try turning off the lights, adding some aquarium salt, and raising the temp to between 82-85*. Covering the tank might be a good idea as well. The key at this point, is to remove all stressors that you can think of. Is he isolated? Fish can surprise us and bounce back from quite a bad beating. The fact that yours is on it's side doesn't bode well though. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Any salt would be fine. I used to think that you could only use non-iodized, but it turns out that even iodized salt is harmless to most of our fish.
