My johanna has a bunch of almost like holes in his head or chunks of his head missing?
THis being a skiddish fish i assume he could have bumped into some rocks in my fish tank but the thing is he has about 7 or so indents on his head. Ive watched him and he doesnt appear to do anything about it or act in anyways strange from what i can see. he still eats normally and hides just like the day i first bought him. No rubbing his body on rocks or anything. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this? My friends johanna has the same thing.

it might be HITH. how big of a tank do you have him in? Parameters, etc?

90 gallon. if by parameters you mean ph,etc i have no idea
have a aqua clear 70 and two sponge filters also some floating plants the water looks really crystal clear.
like a said i haven't noticed a difference in his behavior.

this is something i am starting to realize i have to do its just the location of the fish tank. but i will start doing them very soon acctually tonight i will change a bunch.
what would you say is a good amount to drain 25% or more like 40?
i do top it up whenever the water drops down a bit but thats only every couple of weeks.

ok thank you bill blanco.
I might do 25% one day and 25% lets say 4-5 days later
just to kinda even it out

If i were you I would do a 50% water change now.
you haven't tested you water, so we're going to be assuming something is wrong with it.
Get yourself a good Freshwater test kit. Do not use strips... API makes a good test kit.
After the 50% water change, wait a few hrs and test your water.
Do another 50% water change the following day..
Make sure you treat the water with Prime.. before adding new water.

test your water every 3 days to be ontop of things.

Sounds like HITH to me. Waterchanges help to regulate nitrates which aren't visible. So even if the water looks clean, it can still have bad water quality. How many other fish are in the tank? I would do at least 50% a week, more if the test kit shows nitrates are high.

Yeah, I'd up the water change schedule to 1/3 to 1/2 twice a week to help w/ the HITH and then when it's under control go to 1/2 per week. Please get a good test kit and test your water and report back. Pikes can be VERY sensitive to HITH/LLE. Glad you asked for help.
