Now that you say the bigger type. I read somewhere he gets 14" then yesterday I went to a site where it stated he only get 7". :nilly: I don't know what to think:D.

Good looking gold nugget. He's got beautiful thick bands of that yellow on his fins.

These guys take a long time to get to their max size. Some people claim they never grow in captivity, but I can personally say that they do. Mine have grown about 1.5 inches of so over the last year. I keep them with my discus, so that means temps about 80-82 degrees, softer water at about 7 degrees general hardness, pH's about 6.6-6.8, and a varied meaty diet. When they are in their normal tank, I feed bloodworms, krill, massivore, mysis shrimp, and random chunks of mysis shrimp. I don't know how big they've grown in captivity. There are different types of gold nuggets. I've got all three, and the bigger the spots, it seems the faster they grow. That is my personal experience with them.

Enjoy your guys.

Cool plecos  I like the setup.
Thanks. I think I will be changing the color of the substrate. It's really hard to see my Endlicheri bichirs.

Your L190 is L191, and he looks great.
You are correct sir. I listed his correct L number before and deleted it from my setup and just picked the first L number I seen when I went to list it again. Thanks for the correction and comments.

Can you elaborate on if there is "more desireable" in the different sub-species? Not that it matters, just wondering.Thanks.

Thank you for the info and comments.

Yes it is true the Bigger the dots and the duller colored black ones are more hardier and has bigger growth rates/max size. They are considered very hard to keep alive. He has grown an inch in 5-6 months. Beautiful plecos. Would love to see some pics.
Mine loves BW's, shrimp, tilapia, and a high protein flake food I get in bulk from my LFS. But he's not picky he'll eat anything.
