I live on Lake Jackson in leon county Florida and friday night one of its 2 sink holes opened up and drained 2/3 of the lake in 24 hours...the section I live on still has water but is dropping a foot a day. this sucks...it happens usually every 15-20 years but this time it was only about 13 years and the lake never made it back to its full level. Our area is about 40 inches under what it should be for rain fall since 2010 and biologist think thats why it drained early. FWC has dropped fishing regs because all the fish are gonna die anyway.

They ought to just stick a cork in it...

back in the 70's they actually put cruched cars, cement blocks and all kinds of stuff in one of the sink holes to keep it from draining again but they were just making things worse....its bigger than a grape fruit, its big enough for a person to go bye bye if they're not careful. I sure hope it doesnt take 5 years for it to start filling back up.

the sink hole stopped up and is full of water!!! i went to it yesterday to go look for drying pools to scoop up fish and the sink hole was full of water and the entire area around it had water...I sure hope it stays this way and we can get some good heavy rain to fill it back up. the lake is only maybe alittle over a quarter of the way up so its got a long way to go but atleast its not draining anymore
