Built a Bar type stand for my 100g, and a new stand for the 180g too. While the 100g was down i added an additional over flow. that overflow is loaded with bio media. Do you think this is a good idea for wet/dry purposes? i had it running that way before with a single over flow in the same tank but it slowed down the flow of water. now that i have 2 overflows into seperate sumps im not too concerned with the flow being slightly restricted.

I think its a good idea. Over time wet/dry filters become nitrate factories but as long as you keep your water changes consistent and your bio load within reason it should provide a good source for oxygenation and anerobic bacteria growth.

Thats a cool stand, is that a shelf on it?

OK, just to set things straight:

W/D's are no more of a 'nitrate factory' than any other biologial filter, the more nitrates the better the filter is working...you are correct about the W/C's.

W/D's are not a good or any other kind of source for anerobic bacteria, If it ever were...clean it out! :D

And by your own post 'good source for oxygenation and anerobic bacteria growth' don't go together, oxygen is deadly to anerobic bacteria.
