I got my tank set up and cycled so my Lei Aro is coming in tomorrow. I've never recieved a fish via mail. Let alone an Aro. Is there any special aclimating process that I need to do?

I want to make sure I don't do anything stupid and kill the fish.

I'll make sure to post up some pics once he's in and comfortable!!!!

Treat it as a fish from the store. Put the bag in the tank to slowly balance the temp and pretty much let you fish swim in the open once it is ready.

Another method people use for acclimation would be the drip method.

incase u dont kno what a drip method is. place the bag into a container and open the bag but dont let the aro jump out. take a air line u use for bubblers and tie 1 end into a knot kinda. syphon water out and let it drip into the bag slowly. do this for like 2 hours.

Drip method, anytime..Disolves the amonia in the bag water and slowly acclimatizes the fish to the new PH ( your tanks PH ).

When we say drip it really is drip, one drop after another drop-

I do it with those hospital serum systems. People who don't have it use the tubing Ethnics mentioned. On the drip end you can use one of those "screws", that we use for air when we connect air tubing and have a screw to regulate the air flow..well use that to regulate the water flow...

I sometimes, depends on the fish and the time it has traveleed, have the drip for more than 2 hours.

when the container is full of water, take half of it away and let the drip replenish again....

Sorry for the long post

G luck

lol who still puts the bag in the tank?
drip method is best

actually I do.. it's the no bull way off acclimating a fish.. never lost a fish doing it the old school way and I don't have to break out an air pump/tubing.

Thanks guys. No I know how to aclimate a fish drip or not but I was just wondering if there was anything I needed to do because its being shipped.

But thanks for the info!!! Tomorrow's the day!!

when we got ours we just added a half a cup of water to the bag every ten minutes for like an hour, then netted him and put him in the tank.

I do with certain fish, But usually with aro's, knives, an fancy plecos I use the drip method.

Only othe thing I really do is test the water in the tank an make sure that the levels are ok an wont stress the new Addition.
