My Leichardti died...was it the curl? Pics.

..in an octopus' garden in the shade:)
I bought him for $99.99 (so cheap cause of the gill curl) a few weeks ago. I knew there was a good chance he wouldn't make it, but he was doing so well once I got him home I thought I was gonna get lucky. I found him floating yesterday morning. Do you think the gill curl got him?

i dont know if that was gill curl. in ur picture it looks like a piece of the gill is missing. if it was gill curl the gill would still be present. and yes it might have died because of the large chunk of the gill missing. sorry to hear man they are great fish. wish u luck on ur next arowana

Yeah, as tong pointed out..that doen'st look like gill curl. Was he in a tank with other aggressive fish before you bought him?
 
I have never heard of a fish dieing from gill curl but then again I have never seen a fish so young with gill curl.

Anyways, it sucks to lose a any animal. Sorry for the loss.
 
are you sure it was gill curl? coz it also looks like the curl was removed, thats why there's that gaping hole....

He was in a 29 gal with tons of ornaments, big castles and stuff. So who knows how much water was actually in there. The owner of the store had two leichardti and only one big tank, when they didn't get along, this one got put in the 29. He was priced at 149.99, but I pointed out the gill issue and he took $50 off. The other one is in a 150 and its gorgeous.. but it's $300. I was hoping with some TLC this one was gonna come around, but it didn't work out that way. Can't get the rewards without taking the risks, though.
