Spot's right eye looks slightly swollen and has a little mucus-y film over it near the top, and its got me worried. My big male, Moose, recently died from a perforated GI tract and a host of other problems, including mouth rot. Spot has what to appears to be a very small hint of mouth rot, and my hognose had it earlier and also recently died, so maybe theyre all connected? Spot has always been a little thin and a picky eater, but appears normal, maybe even improving, although it could just be a peak in the normal small fluctuation in weight. She just shed yesterday, with a little stuck on her toes and the affected eye, so I'll work on getting that all off tonight, especially the eye. I switched my sand substrate to paper towel, gave her a quick soak, and misted the cage, hopefully that will help, because that seemed to be part of Moose's problem as well.

What could it be? Retained shed? Cataract? Some kind of parasite? Any guesses on the mouth? I'm very worried, the Grim Reaper seems to be having a lot of fun in the Collister residence lately... I'm gonna give the vet a call tonight and see what he thinks.

Thanks for any and all well-informed input :)

Sorry to hear about your pets. It almost sounds like a Vitamin A deficiency. What you can do is pick up a bottle of Zoomed Turtle Eye Drops. It's safe to use on your gecko. Flush the eye twice a day with it to help clear away any mucus. The drops contain Vitamin A that should help to clear up the eye. Until then I'd contact a herp vet and see what they think. Good luck.

They thought the sand may have gotten into the otehr leo's mouth and injured it, so I would not be surprised if the same happened to her eye. I switched the sand with paper towels, so that should help. I'll bump the heat up a bit too. I'll ask the vet about the turtle eye drops, I have used those on box turtles and Im surprised I didnt think of those earlier :)
