Awesome you've had it so long and that you have it's growth photographed. The PetSmart near me has tiny ones pretty often.

Thanks. Yeah, he's the only fish I've ever bought from Petsmart. As they get older their colors darken and kind Of fade. Awesome fish though.

Yeah that's about the only drawback with the fish and even that's no big deal considering how long it takes before the spotting starts to fade away. There is a thread about a big old ctenopoma,I'll see if I can link or bump it for ya.

Awesome to see the changes as he's grown. How big is he now?

I recently bought 5 little guys, and see conflicting information about growth rate. What was your experience?

Mines about 6" at least. His growth rate the first year or so was fairly moderate...not fast but month to month you could tell he was growing. He's slowed down considerably in his growth the last couple years though.

Krichardson, I have seen that thread around. What a brute!

I've had my ctenopoma for about 6 years he's about 6" now. My guys has been dark brown since he's been in my tank. I thought it was only because I have black sand an black background. Just curious was color substrate you guys are using?
