I live in Spfld,Mass.I have been going to the same fish store for nearly 30 yrs,the stores name is "James Tropical Fish".At one time you could order just about any kind of fish you wanted from them and in a week it was there.Well a year or two ago the original owners retired and gave the business to thier oldest daughter. Now the place has gone downhill,i mean the people are very nice and the manager Dan is fairly knowlegable, but to order a fish from these people is like pulling teeth!!Half the time he says he cant get certain fish, the other times he claims the prices of the fish are too high(wich i have stated that would be my problem).Other times he claims certain fish only will come in big shipments and that i would have to buy them all.Does anyone else have this problem with thier LFS??Do any of you have experience buying wholesale??I used to be able to order 1 fish at a time has the business changed like that??Any input is greatly appreciated!!Thanks!!!:WHOA:

That sucks ass man. Where have the nice people gone to these days?!

It's a business decision as well. If they need to order your fish from a specialized supplier, it makes little sense to order a single fish and pay the full shipping charges. You can just as easily do this yourself.

i unfortuantly live in a small town and only have 1 close (less than an hour away) lfs. I recently inquired about special ordering a delhezi. He showed me the list and said he would have to order 10. Because of the small townish-ness not very many people would be interested. So until i feel like buying 8+delhezi bichirs im screwed.

You'd be best off ordering from the supplier yourself. Maybe find a few people near you and get a group order to reduce shipping cost to you.

But i bet thier shipping prices are lower than mine. And i understand what you are saying but,i believe going an extra mile for a longtime customer(who easily has spent thousands in that store)makes for better business. And it seems like everytime i go to one of thier competitors they throw it in my face to make me feel guilty.Sorry guys just venting,i miss the old days!!!!
