Well, it has been somewhat of a journey and learning process with my dive into CA's around 6 years ago or so. I have been through countless iterations of my single tank...in my apartment. Luckily, I have met some friends and hobbyist here on MFK locally where I have done my due diligence in rehoming them. It has been rather expensive on the wallet though lol. Although I have been responsible in their rehoming, in hindsight I think I should have been a little less impulsive & obsessive when trying to get my tank 'just right' ....instead I should have been more patient & methodical. I have discovered that one of the true satisfactions of fishkeeping is the reward of delayed gratification. This is a concept that I am just now grasping and it has been quite a hirdle for me to realize. I am definitely recognizing some of my shortcomings as fishkeeper d/t some self-awareness. Hopefully, in the future, I will be moving from Socal to Florida to be closer to family. I will then be able to build a proper fish room (or pond) and not have to settle for a single tank in a Socal apartment :)

With that said, in my short venture into CA's (which I truly love), I have come to the conclusion that I am an Amph man. I love them. Seemingly, getting the 'bug' again, I researched some Amphs that I found intersting. My list was compromised of Istlanum, Red Isletas, Chancho, Flaveolus, and Hogaboomorum. I am really fond of barred Amphs. I narrowed it down to the Laguna de Apoyo Amphs...Flaveolus and Chancho. I then made the decision to get some Chanchos.

I wanted to grow some Amphs from small size and hopefully end up with a bonded pair. I have always bought amphs rather larger already, and was always left wanting...feeling like I was missing out on the full experience. So I bought 7 of these lil buggers from Dan. It seems like they are in the 3-4 inch range. Here is a quick phone vid. Thanks for watching.

For future reference: If any other MFK members in Socal are looking for some Chanchos in the future I am sure I will need to rehome some when a pair forms. Once again, money is not as important as going to a responsible and safe haven...

Them chanchos look beast. If I don’t get a male out of my bunch and if you have extra males I would get one from you if you sell some. I’m in central Cali.

cich78 cich78 Haha that was me on that facebook group that commented on your barred and was saying it's size reminded me of a Chancho! I remember your fish most certainly. I remeber getting feedback on considering Chancho or Flaveolus.
