I came in from class today and my lima looked funny, his colors/fins etc looked fine, however it looks like his back end is sagging...i dont have a camera, but everything about him looks fine except his spine looks like theres a slight arc. he also seems a little slower and not as active, i tapped the glass once and he darted around normal (dont usualy tap the glass), i change the water 15-20% a week, and went to feed him today and decided to destroy a chunk of shrimp before eating it, i dont know what to think..anything i should do?

when I had my 2 LSN, they were the most skiddish fish in the tnak. even if i walked into the room, they would dart around wildly in the tank. tapping on the glass made them go nuts. You said it ate the shrimp after it destroyed it, which is a good sign that its appetite is still there. you also noted your water parameters are good, So my best guess would be to give it time. Its too early to tell anything for sure. if anything changes, let us know so we can give you some definitive advice

this guy is by no means skittish, never has been. everytime i approach he comes up to the glass. im concerned about how his spine looks like it starting to ark. I have him in a 20g long (hes 4 inches will go into a huge tank round xmas) hes in my dorm room so hes use to noise and movement. i might jus be over reacting but id rather do something now than when its too late, cuz this guy is the friggen man and i dont wanna lose him

spine arching simply means hes bashing into the glass one too many times due to excitement or fear. they only way to truly prevent this is to get him a bigger home. sorry bro no other solutions

i have never seen him bash into the glass, hes always been remotely calm less theres food involved, he has plenty off room...

That is true mine were not that skitish when i got them but when they did the glass they can damage themselves.

yea i'd go with getting the tank sooner than waiting till Christmas....its probably from banging its body on the tank sides to much in a small tank size of a 20 gallon...even though its at 4" its still a too small of a footprint on the tank.So get it soon alright...

brought him home, hes in a extra 55g alone...but what i dont get is if it were a injury from bouncin off the glass (i never saw him do it) why would his back be "sagging" behind his dorsal fin, wouldnt he have a broken mouth or something, i jus dont get how this could be due to lack of space

pics would help, because it sounds like he's still able to move his tail if he's swimming, so I wouldn't think the spine is broken, but strange you say sagging. Can't really picture it without a picture.
