Is it possible to kill a tank's bio-filter by injecting too much chorlinated water into the tank? If yes, please give examples of this happening.

Is there chloramine in LA tap water? is there enough to kill a bio-filter? What amoutn would kill a bio-filter?

yeah, is it that bad? should i create a water resevoir ot rid my water of chloramine and chlorine? Does chloramine go away if the water is let to sit for 24 hours or does it have to be chemically treated?

Some dechlor products eliminate chrloine. But chrloamine is ammonia + Chlorine. The filter would then take away the small amount of ammonia.

An example of chlorine destroying a tanks BB is when a noob performs a large water change without treating the water.

The reason Clorimines are used instead of clorine is that it WON'T dissapate if you leave it in a tub. You need to use Prime to break it down or You can always set up a filter system like the one I use to make tank water. We live in Riverside..better water than LA but still noting I'd ever allow in my tanks. The system below is a Dual RO...twin DI filter system with a 6 stage prefilter.

The output is about 250 gallons of totally pure water per day without a booster pump.

Naaa...I think I'm ready to upgrade...I have a three cartrage unit thats just laying around I might use to replace/upgrade the DI portion. The only problem is...I can't figure out why?

LOL
