Wassup mfk, second post since came back to the dark side (fish keeping) I the time I was gone I emptied out my 55 (long story about getting my oscar to go, but he was too big anyways) well, now I just have this little guy all by himself in the 56, I have no idea whether I can have tank mates or not. I picked him up at my lfs wherehe was mixed with some guppies and the guy gave junto me for the whopping sum of $3 (best $3 I ever paid) Tell me what you guys think, he was pretty active and it was hard to get good pics but here.

that's cool I have been wanting a native tank. I have not had one before but I hear they are pretty aggressive you may want to stick with the one.

Yeah I could be happy with one. And @rivers2k is your name like river and s2000?

Ding ding ding you guessed it. I used to have a s2000 and my last name is rivers. I had to sell it to get a minni van it was a very sad day.

U sure thats a bluegill? Weird st7ff comes in with feeders and those arent great pics but babies ive seen dont have that proportion eyes to body... cool lil guy, definitely a cichlid of some sort but it may be a mystery until he gets some size. Maybe better side profile pic would help

Yeah I agree, I will upload some better pics when I get home. I am 98% sure he is some sort of sunfish, but he may be a bass for all I know. I still have yet to master taking pictures of fish, and this energetic little guy is not making my life easier.

Also, I say bluegill since they are a common sunfish, and it look likes there is a black spot I the dorsal fin, some early stripes on the body, and typical gill covers of bluegill. Idk if he is a different sunfish but if he is some kind of bass I will be sad, he will get too big for me to take care of him.

I dont think hes a bass but its certainly some type of cichlid. I used to catch and keep different baby sunfish and bluegill when I was young and dont remember their eyes being that big in relation to their body. Could make for a fun growout not knowing exactly what it may be but it isnt a bass
