I know those as elephant trunk snakes. File snakes are entirely different.

Nice pic up. I know that there are several different types of file snakes and I knew that one was similar to an elephant trunk snake but I am constantly getting them confused. I think that the others were referring to the file snakes of the Mehelya Genus like the cape file snake:
Javanicus has always been referred to as an Elephant Trunk or Javan File Snake......
Granulatus has always been referred to as a Blue File or Marine File, seeing as the majority are collected off of Reefs and can tolerate salt water for long periods of time......
