Alright so last weekend i go to the lake see a few pbass go home to find that i have no pole=/ kinda bummed out that theres so many pbass just sitting there, so today i call my friend and ask to bring a pole back so he does, dont find any pbass there (probly cause the time of day) so we go to another lake where they also are, i see one then i see 4! im like i have to get one now before the days over, cast out a couple times they chase it away and mess with it, then one bites!! im reeling it in right once i get it a few inches above ground the line snaps.... splashh there the big pbass goes... that really hurts=(

ouch! hehe have to say...
it happens! specially when ur no that prepared.
its aight uve got alot more pbass to try n catch.
better luck next time! :)

Hey Mos,

That can happen. In fact it happened a lot to me when I was just beginning to fish for PB. They tend to shake their body a lot once out of the water.

What you can do is to not lift it out of the water, If you can. If you are on the shoreline, you may just pull it towards you and grab the leader when it gets within reach. Or if there's grass or sand on shore, just pull it into the grass or sand out of the water without taking it above water.

Better luck next time.

make sure your line is not too old and the lb. test is right. i've lost a striper or two due to not replacing my line after a year. also, lower that drag just a bit but not too much as any bass will shake it's head like crazy so you want that tension. if you're an experienced fisherman just tell me to shut the F up. i wish i had pbass to fight up here in boston. but im happy with our stripers.

:swear: Florida members, you lucky son-of-a-bass's-ass....Where I live, fishing for big PBASS means fishing in your own wallet for one, AT THE LFS(not some river or lake)....
