My little JAG

Hello friends

I want to show to you my little "bad" Jag . It is may be 6-7 month old and 6 - 7 cm long (withouth tail, with tail may be 8 cm). I have them 4 month. I bought them as 2 cm. What do you think, it is male or female?

if it stay that way when its 6inces or so then its female butthat is way to small to sex properly.... seems kinda old for the size of it????

Very nice, btu as others have said it is hard to tell at it's current size.

ok, and what size or age is sufficent for differentiate sex? My Jag is very aggrsive ( look at its age) towards female sajica and young female convict, male ignores. I think, that may be, that it is female

i think it's too early to tell...
wait a couple more months and post pictures and it will become more evident what the sex is.

i'm 85% sure this is female, normally the case would be when it is about 6" you can try to sex it, but this one has what i call the female markings, including spotting and such, and the light shade also indicates that aswell.

Some female jags can be just as agressive as the males, take boltys old female jag for an example.

my female jag beet the hell out of all the fish i had in with her, both cats and other cichlids, and there is no way she would let me put my hand in the tank (she made me bleed nore than once!,), she was a good 3inches smaller than the male between there spawns the male would give her a hard time BUT she would not stand down, then she started beeting him up!

she was the only fish i have had that was this aggressive apart from my 10inch male RD.
