originally had a group of four mayan cichlids [got em for free] and this girl is the only one left. . . original owner bought them thinking they are festaes but sure did miss out on this beauty. currently living along in a 10 gal at 3.5 inches.

Yes. It'll get bigger. It'll need bigger than a 10 gallon for sure.
Mine was a mean SOB. It took on a JD that was about 3X it's size. The JD beat it up bad just because it was bigger, but the mayan just wouldn't stop, and kept getting beat up. I had to move the mayan to another tank eventually. The mayan just wouldn't learn.

Get her into a 55g or larger and she'll start putting on size. Nothing grows in a 10g very fast.
Thats definitely not "All Grown Up"...and they grow as fast as Amphs in well maintained tanks. I had a pair I caught as juvies in a cast net in Florida that I kept in a 125 that hit 9" in about 8 months...and were N A S T Y. You couldnt tell them apart unless you caught the female laying eggs.
heres my old 11" female, she had a 90gal breeder to herself she killed anything.

That is a nice young Mayan. I agree with the others, Mayans grow like weeds. I have raised a few myself and the growth rate is fast and steady. You should definitely keep the Mayan in a larger tank with regular water changes to encourage growth.
